We believe that accountability matters, and that the government -- including the Department of Natural Resources -- has a duty to enforce laws that protect public health and safety. There is compelling evidence that the DNR and Lands Commissioner Doug Sutherland are systematically failing to meet their responsibilities to ensure that irresponsible clear-cuts do not endanger the health and safety of Washington’ residents and their environment. As our State Auditor, we are urging you to launch a state performance audit of the DNR’s monitoring, oversight, and enforcement responsibilities.
