Job Description
The Political Communications Organizer will be responsible for leading digital and offline organizing projects that increase our reach and impact in Southwest Washington. They will help us win critical issues and election campaigns by organizing and mobilizing volunteers and community leaders, and helping drive communications strategies that deliver our messages and stories to voters and decision makers. This is a full-time, salaried position based in Southwest Washington.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and organize a network of volunteers to amplify progressive communications on social media and other channels.
- Collaborate with Fuse team to develop shareable and impactful content for social media organizing
- Cultivate and engage volunteers through different mediums including but not limited to webinars, newsletters, check-ins, and in person events
- Utilize data and metrics to analyze what organizing approaches and creative content are generating the most engagement and learn from failures to continually improve program performance
- Support and lead electoral organizing, direct voter contact, and GOTV projects
- Assist with the Civic Voices Youth Organizing Fellowship program
- Organize Grassroots support and accountability for Fuse’s legislative agenda and policy priorities
- Build and maintain relationships with key organizations and leaders, both state-wide and nationally
Required Qualifications: Work, volunteer, academic, and life experience are all acceptable
- At least two years experience in organizing, campaigns, non-profits, and/or advocacy
- A demonstrated commitment to racial, economic, and social justice equity
- Experience using social media platforms
- Strong relationship-building skills and comfortable with public speaking
- A commitment to community organizing as a means of social change
- A valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle
- Strong interpersonal skills with a good sense of humor
- Ability to thrive in an open office with a fast-paced, campaign-style work environment
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience developing effective communication strategies and content
- Familiarity with southwest Washington politics and communities
- Existing relationships with leaders or organizations in WA’s 3rd Congressional District
- Experience with Every Action or volunteer management software, VAN, peer-to-peer texting tools like ThruText (previously Relay) or Hustle, and auto-dial software like Callfire
Salary and Benefits
Salary $60,000-$65,000 depending on experience. We provide excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement package with a 3% employer match, generous vacation time, and a flexible work environment with opportunities for professional development.
